    Noveske the only lower option?

Is Noveske the only option for a stripped lower for a pistol build? Planning build to be SBR'd in the future.

In my research I learned BCM lowers come complete. DD stripped lowers don't happen anymore. Colt lowers can be purchased stripped but to my understanding have previously been built as rifles. Using any of these three lowers for a pistol looks impossible. Is there any chance a dealer can strip out a completed lower into parts before shipping out so that the receiver can legally be received by an FFL without the "rifle" designation on the 4473? (A lower that has never had a rifle upper attached?)

Am I looking for a unicorn here? I want a BCM lower for this build if I had my choice.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "Tier 1" lower. I highly doubt Noveske even makes their receivers themselves. If you want to build a quality pistol, find a stripped lower from a reputable manufacturer that is made correctly and don't worry about what is printed on the side of it. What matters are the components used inside and on top, and not the engravings.

G&R Tactical has Colt LE M4 stripped lowers listed as available for $350.00:

Not sure if this will fit your needs. Nowhere in the G&R listing does it say these are "take-offs" from previously assembled firearms. Not sure what to make of the FDE MOE trigger guard that comes with it? Worth a look anyway, given your stated preferences.

Also, Rainier has had pretty competitive prices ($175.00) on Noveske Chainsaw Gen I stripped lowers:

Yeah, I know all this. And I figured my title and question would be received with some ire. It was the simplest way I could put it. I want a BCM stripped lower for my build. I've looked at Spike's. I've looked at Aero. I think they're alright but I always have small voice in the back of my head. Perhaps I've drank the koolaid. Maybe I have become a rollmark chaser.

So am I relegated to a Spike's or Aero?

I don't intend to offend anybody. Hell I bought a Windham Weaponry for my first AR and never letting it go. I read up and learned quickly. I have this picture of what I want to build now and how I want to build it. I want a top notch AR pistol. I don't want to be dealing with sending a lower back and forth because it isn't in spec; mags don't drop free, the FCG holes are out, etc. I'm just trying to set myself up for success with the least amount of hassle. If I've learned anything from M4C it is buy quality. Just trying to do that here.

As for the Noveske lowers, I've seen what I feel is mixed but weighted overall good for the chainsaws. I do have them on my list and they are at good prices. I have run across a few threads here of some out of spec lowers. Usually it is the magwells and the mags aren't dropping free. In those cases Noveske took care of the customer. That gives me confidence. I'm trying to stay LW on this build (it is paramount) so the Gen1 was my leaning. But those seem to be catching a little more trouble. I've got Gen M3 Pmags here and I have to be sure the lower I use is compatible.

Overall, just trying to make the best decisions right off the bat.

    ETA: As far as parts:
    - Sionics LPK
    - ALG QMS Trigger
    - BCM GFG grip, deliberating model
    - BCM H-buffer & carbine spring
    - Buffer tube? Still deliberating
    - SB15
    - Upper 11.5" BCM
    - Colt CH
    - BCM BCG

Thanks for the link. I've been looking at those. Planning to send Grant an email to confirm how those Colt lowers would transfer.

Those Noveske's @ Rainier are on my spreadsheet, thanks.

Have you looked at AXTS, Seekins, and other specialty makers? The Seekins is beautifully machined and the reverse angled magwell actually does help during reloads.

Dennis, no I haven't looked at the billet offerings in depth. I've seen some really neat works but ultimately figured they'd be overboard for me. Being a one-handed user, I can't take advantage of the magwell shapes and finger grooves which seem to be the perks of a billet receiver. As dumb as that sounds, I felt I'd be paying a premium for a feature I couldn't use. Also a primary objective of this build is to be lightweight. From all I've read the billet lowers are slightly heavier. In my case, ounces do count. That even goes for the forged Noveske w/flared magwell.

So, the billets are there, they're just kind of compartmentalized "over there".

If weight is a serious concern then keep your eye on these... http://www.jamesmadisontactical.com/...ower-receiver/ I saw them on Rainier first which is the only reason I gave them a second look...
