Since I'm selfishly projecting myself onto the OP, I'd get a 940 Osborne green handle black blade and send it to TheApostleP for sharpening. I'm super jealous of my friend's 940 which is thin and flat when folded and just as functional as my black handle black blade griptilian when deployed.

Just got an update from a Benchmade CS rep:

"Below is the promotional code to use on our website. Your knife retailed for $165 but I went ahead and made it for $200 of your purchase. Hope that helps, have a wonderful day."

I was seriously considering going to a Sebenza, but after this, no way.

Does customer service get any better than this?

OK, so I decided on an Osborne 940 and placed the order on Monday evening.

Turns out that in addition to upgrading the trade-in allowance by $35 over what I paid for the original knife, Benchmade also upgraded shipping from ground to FedEx, so I just got a call that my new knife is waiting for me at home, less than 48 hours after I placed the order.

    Wow that's quick.

940 is such a nice blade. Which one did you get?

    Yeah, I'm impressed.

I got this one: http://www.benchmade.com/products/940 It's about the same weight and thickness as my favorite 750, but the blade is a lot lighter.

I'm sitting at work practicing opening and closing it one-handed on conference calls. The Axis lock's closing stroke takes some getting used to after using a frame-lock for so many years, but so far it's OK. Same with switching to tip-up carry after so many years with tip-down carry.

    People can grow, I guess...

No, I was asking what finish and plain or combo edge?

With the axis lock, opening and closing it you can just pull the axis backwards and flick the knife. Probably the easiest knife to open and close.

My mistake. I got the satin-finished blade with a plain edge.

The Axis lock is definitely easy to use. I'm just doing the equivalent of dry-firing getting used to it.
