This the the motivation for them. As the company grows, they want to do more in house, which is understandable and (I think) commendable.

As a side benefit, the new stock and grip does visually differentiate their guns. How many MOE guns do you see on the shelf of the gun shop? They all look the same.

That bar at the bottom of the stock should be straight, not curvy with a point.

I can't wait for a year to go buy and this furniture to be the new hotness just because DD made it. (I really hope this doesn't happen)

If it becomes the new trend I hope it is for a good reason...

I think their cerakoted color is the new hotness. The whole gun in basically the color of the RIS rails. I dig it. I think it's a much better color for blending in to most environments than FDE, and the matching stock and grip with contrasting rubber panels looks good. They have a V5LW, V7, MK18 and an M4A1 14.5" pinned carbine in this color.

I think we all factor in aesthetics when it comes to our rifles, even though most will say they do not. That stock is simply hideous. Beyond the looks, I fail to see how it is more functional than a MOE or Bravo. The Rogers Super Stock, the Larue Stock, and now this. Hey trusted manufacturers, stop jumping the damn shark and stick to what works.

How is a MOE more functional than an M4?

You seemed to be implying improved function should be requisite for offering a new product, and list a product that really didn't offer any improved function over the product that existed at the time. For probably greater than 99% of their owners, Magpul stocks are nothing more than aesthetic upgrades.
