I like the new furniture. And can easily see it as one of those things that starts to grow on people and before you know it, it will become one of the more common aftermarket parts for the AR platform. Marler5811, when exactly will the new rifles be available for purchase? I need dates!!! I've been on a 6 month deployment in Korea and am eagerly looking to purchase the new M4A1 SOCOM with the new finish when I return.
I was in Texas for the Acusport show, I shot the rifles with the new furniture, and I didn't notice any pulling on my beard. I also want to point out that the pictures make the stock look much wider on the bottom edge than it actually is. I really like this stock, but i think I'll stick with the MOE + grip as it is wider than the new DD grip, and I have very large hands. I will be purchasing three of the stocks as soon as they arrive at my store!
By the way, here is a pic of the new V9, and the 15" rail. The rail will be available separately, and the V9 is available with DD's S2W profile barrel in 18"! I shot the lightweight at the range, and the 15" rail is perfect for a guy like me with a near 7' wingspan !
Thanks for the weight, based on weight and initial feedback it looks like a winner and I'm looking forward to using the new furniture! That said, as a DD fan (and I think I speak for many others as well), I'd love to see a DD .308, alloy rail (like what is used in the KMR), perhaps a keymod DDM4 variant and maybe even an even lighter barrel in the future... Just wanted to throw that out there since we have the ear of a staff member at DD.
We have a lot of irons in the fire. It is, however, our policy not to disclose any information on new products until they are in stock or at least in full production.

We don't have a firm date on release on the new furniture but we anticipate that it will be available for purchase this spring. March/April timeframe is what we are aiming for.

Of course not, I wouldn't want you to disclose anything prematurely either.
I said early in this thread that I didn't like it, but the more I look at it the more it grows on me. I think DD did a good thing with the color as well. I'm surprised no one has brought any brown furniture to market before now.
I still see a couple of areas where I think small changes would be beneficial though. With the VFG I think it would be a good idea to offer a stubby version, or a full-length version that unscrews into two pieces allowing the end user to run it as a stubby or full length VFG. And a keymod direct version would be a winner too I think.
I'm still not sure about the finger bump on the front of the grip, and I think offering the grip in a few different variations would be wise. The integrated trigger guard is fine for someone buying a complete rifle or building one from scratch, but for someone who already has a complete rifle it might be a deal breaker. A version of the grip without the trigger guard would likely do much better as a stand alone item. I would also like to see a variation of the grip that's wider from front to back with a beaver tail.
Thanks to Marler for responding to feedback and providing information from the company's perspective.
I was thinking about a M4V3 but I have to say that grip and stock are effing hideous. Like something Spike's would put out. Come on DD... you just answered a question no asked. Now the grip and stock may be functional but if I choose to replace the grip I also have to replace the trigger guard and retaining pin as well. Looking at the photo below the trigger pin hole looks larger than mil-spec. Maybe that was pre-production but if its larger than mil-spec that would infer you are stuck with the DD pistol grip.

Bit of a necro, but B5 does their SOPMOD Bravo in Coyote Brown. Matches the RIS II's (and Trijicon's ECOS and Elcan's SpecterDR) FDE and Glock's Dark Earth pretty well.

If that grip bothers you so much, I am sure there are plenty of A2 grips and trigger guards in parts bins here that can be had for free. Then you will be back to square one and can start fresh. Hell, I even take off a MagPul stock and put on a B5 when I get a new rifle. Nothing else has cheanged as per my last discussion with Joe at DD so you should be OK. I still would like to have something different to try before it gets changed therefore it is value added in my book.
