    Mags for the long haul.

I'm sure this has been gone over, but I would really appreciate the help. I'm young right now and I think that I made a good purchase with my charles daly m4 which I'll get to pick up soon. Now I'm looking at mags. I've got 5 cproducts stainless and 5 d&h 20s and a few other mags. I would like to get 10 more mags and I want to buy right since I'm on a somewhat limited budget. I can't decide between 10 D&h 30s at $10 bucks or 10 pmags. I have one pmag and I understand that they are superior to aluminum mags in almost every way, but I'm still concerned about how the plastic will be 10-20 years from now or possibly even longer. Should I just buy pmags with confidence that they will last for a long time or is there a better option?

you already have some USGI and steel mags, so try the PMags.

dont worry about the plastic holding up in the long run. PMags are not the first polymer mags the world has seen. Glock magazines are plastic, Bulgy AK mags are plastic, AUG mags are plastic and all of those have been around quite a while

i love PMags, but i don't like how they aren't compatible with the LULA loading device and how they wont fit my Kydex single mag belt pouch.

granted, these are small and nit-picky issues, but i think USGI mags have their place and i wouldn't be happy unless i had a decent stock of both types.

you can never have enough AR magazines. stock up now while the prices are low. in a few years we'll all be reminiscing about how cheap magazines used to be.

PS the Charles Daly looks to be a nice rifle. give us a range report and pix when you can.

I wouldn't own either of the mags you currently have. If they run for you.. fine. But both of those brands have had significant QC issues in the past. Cprod by far the leader in the QC issue department.

I'd definitely go long in Pmags and some Okays/NHMTGs for some USGI mags.

Test your current mags when you can. If they work, you're good to go.

No I haven't tested the cproducts and I know I should. The D&h have worked perfectly although I haven't given them much of a round count(can't afford it), they were made during the ban if that means anything regarding quality. I'll try to shoot for pmags.

Thumbs up Dr Drake's PMag Cures

The materials are proven to withstand longer stronger better than the rest. No feedlip creep on P-mags. Buy with confidence!

There are some inferior composite mags out there that give the idea of using composite materials a bad rep... Magpul has it down

And concerning the Lula loading device compatibility, I disagree. I use my Lula loader with my P-Mags everytime. Maybe your puting it on backwards or something....

hahaha ok, good to know...thanks for the correction.

glad to know i can use it. and no, i wasn't putting it on backwards, i tried connecting the LULA to my PMag, i encountered some resistance (normal resistance i guess) but didn't want to force things, so i just loaded them by hand.

next time i'm loading mags i'll snap on the LULA without fear. thanks i'd try it now, but i keep leaving my LULAs and UPLulas at the range. i have another on order right now. i really need to quit losing those things...they get to be expensive.

All of the D&H/Labelle mags that I've bought in the past three or four years (I think I have 12 or 13 of them) have been extremely reliable. They worked well with GI green followers, but they were upgraded to Gen II Magpul followers. I've had no problems with them since, and they've had many thousands of rounds through them.

I have no personal experience with C Products mags, because the horror stories I've heard have scared me away from them.

To answer the original question, I would suggest you get some PMAGs. The GI aluminum mags don't handle rough use all that well, as they were never really designed to last for decades. They can dent, or the feed lips get bent, and once that happens they just never seem to run right again. I think that in 10 years most PMAGs will be in much better shape than most aluminum mags. Hell, I even have some battered Orlites (which are stone-age polymer technology compared to PMAGs) that still work - believe it or not. If you're hesitant, just get one or two PMAGs and try them out. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised, and you'll have no further questions about which mags to buy in the future.

And, for the record, my PMAGs work just fine with my LULA.

You're probably fine. D&H is much less known for problems.

You'll know right away if you have problems with the cprods.

But once you get a few pmags, you won't shoot anything else anyway.
