Because a member of the staff deemed that it be closed, and carried forward with the action. In this case, there are threads on that topic in general, meaning that a new thread need not have been made, because you could have used the existing thread had you utilized the forum's Search feature.

Starting a thread about a thread of yours that was closed, and doing so in the public areas of the forums is....undesirable. Your PM function works, and you could have used that PRIOR to posting this, just like you could have used the Search function PRIOR to posting a thread on an existing topic. The more successful method is generally to look first, then decide whether or not you need to leap, THEN leap.

Take a moment to hit the FAQ button, on the left side of the page header. It'll direct you to the site's general rules. The stickied threads in any given subforum describe specific rules, so it'd be of benefit for you to read those, as well.

Don't feel singled out; threads get shut down every day, for that reason and for other reasons, a lot of them due to mind-bogglingly childish behavior. Not the case, in this instance.

Here's a worthwhile primer for how and why things are the way they are; it might help provide some background as to how certain behaviors some of our members may have gotten used to aboard other venues....might not be as welcome on M4C: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...4C-Style-Guide
