Sorry for the instagram videos, but it's all i have handy
So do new orders receive the current revision or are they filled with new old stock as revisions are made?
Right now, all we are shipping are Gen IVs . the only issue about 10% of people have is the buffer retainer , which tells me its something going on with the hand load in the mold. But that is getting fixed at the machine shop now. But when new versions of the lowers come out, we always offer a free upgrade to all that have issues.
Ok, so what is the buffer retainer issue to lookout for?
Also how is the serial number affixed, I see a metal plate in the pictures.
If I were to decide to engrave the lower with simple text will the polymer melt easily enough, say with a heated pick or something?
Just make sure the retainer is far enough forward not to get the buffer slammed into it . So if your buffer isn't chewed up around the edges you're OK. The engraving I do in house is with a 30w CO2 laser. Does great. There are some examples on the website. I have done some stippling with a soldering iron. Laser is more precise though. I guess it really depends on your skill level and the tip you use.
Thanks for answering my questions.
Is black strongest mixture like Magpul's black mags vs FDE?
Also is the serial number plate molded into the receiver? I am assuming it is not that stick on sheet metal type stuff the ATF put the stop to on another polymer lower companies product...
We've never seen a difference between the colors strength wise. They get their strength from the 50% fiber fill. And the serial number inserts are a 1\4 x 1 in square aluminum tube that is filled with Nylon 66 when molding. Taking the insert out would mean taking that side of the receiver out as well. No plates.
