Its zero'd at 50 yards like all my other AR's. The bigi sub tensions are 5 mils, the smalls are 2.5 mils. So ranging is a little tougher than if you had 1 mil with .5 mil subtensions. The big circle is 10 mils across if I remember correctly and the dot is .5 mil's.

I can hit an 8" plate out to 300 with the 50 yard zero just holding a little high or low depending on range to get hits. I use it more like a red dot with cross hairs honestly with the zoom aiding in target acquisition. If I want to make more precise shots or longer than 300 I just dial. Ive made hits on my 500 yard plate with it by dialing. Last year I made a 1st round hit at 300 on a 5 gallon bucket. I then proceeded to destroy a water filled 2 liter soda bottle at 300(my buddy said I wasnt hitting it, but the target board it was sitting on top of was soaked with water).

So its a plenty effective scope out to 300 with no dialing. The 4x helps out, like I said for target acquisition.

I would like a 1-6x variable, but a 1-4x may be an option, however it seems like the 1-4x's are obsolescent now that 1-6x scopes are available.

Absolute necessities is daylight illumination and ability to use the scope in an RDS setting.

Swarovski Z6i - about $800 more expensive then I want to spend
Vortex Razor gen ii HD - way too heavy..a 25 oz scope on a LW build is pretty ridiculous in a sense
Leupold VX 6 multi gunner with SPR firedot - may be good but not available anywhere..can one order directly from Leupold custom shop? Also I'm not sure if it is daylight visible, and the 2.5 mil dot marks seem impractical, but I think this one seems the best bet right now, but deal breaker would be if not daylight visible
Leupold Mark 6 - FFP and not daylight visible is a deal breaker
    SWFA 1-6x, too heavy
For the 6720, just run an Aimpoint Micro - I recommend the H-1, and either the DD Mount, or something QD.

For this - the Mk6 from Leupold IS daylight visible, but the FFP and illumination technology chosen make the illumination more eyebox specific that is ideal, but that is an optic you should consider.
The Vortex does hit every checkbox but weight, you've evaluated that correctly. The SWFA isn't as bad, but not quite what you're after either.
The Z6i, or Khales equivalent, the price is the limitation, they're great glass, but I'm most impressed with my Mk6 in that the two are comparable, the Leupold has a slightly more usable reticle, but the illumination and packaging of the Swaro is much nicer.

The TR-24-T Trijicon should absolutely be in consideration. It's a 1-4x, but is extremely bright in most situations, and mostly exceptionally usable in low zoom settings, though you're giving up a fair bit of subtended marking precision at the 4x side. At a price sufficiently lower to afford the H-1 in addition, I'd definitely take a look at that setup.

For what it's worth, I run the TR-24RT on my DD V5 (very similar to what you have), and the Leopold Mk6 on my Recce.

I've thought about a 3.5x or 4x ACOG or Browe. Do you use the capped both open eye technique for close up shooting, or do you use Bindon technique? With regards to the ACOG ECOS, do you have any issues with breaking your usual cheek weld when using the MRDS? Having a mini RDS on top zeroed for 7 yards and the ACOG for 100 yards may be the best of both worlds, sort of like how Paul Howe has his CSAT iron sight set up, if only not for the cheek weld issue.

How much faster are you with the TR-24 vs the Mark 6 at the 7 yard line? In other words do you feel significantly handicapped by the Mark 6 during 7 yard drills? I've thought about the TR-24 for a long time..but it just seemed like there were new choices out there with better all around reticles, but I do respect what the TR-24 can do.
