Vortex 1-4. SHTF where I am would require hunting...I don't want to taint my meat with a gut shot at 200yd.

Aimpoint M68. Spare battery compartment on mount and optic. I figure in good for ~10 years. After that, I'll stick with my buis

I like a low power variable optic with an etched reticle and offset BUIS for maximum flexibility. That configuration will migrate over to my 7.62 platform, while I retain a holographic or dot sight on another carbine (also equipped with quality BUIS of course).

Depends which rifle I feel like grabbing

My ak has xs big dot iron sights and the ar has aimpoint pro w the 3x magnifier. If I really need to reach out then my r700 has 4-16x grand slam

It depends on where you live. If your in the city, RDS. If your in the boonies, 1-4 or 1-6 optic. Your location is the only thing that determines what is needed. IMO you put soldiers in the mountains or desert with no urban environment at all, so you think they will want a RDS or a scope?

Just like if your typically in cqb situations, there really isn't need for a scope. Now if you live in a town in the boonies, **** it, run both

Again, it's about the location and circumstances. I keep a scope for hunting small animals, but when the rifle is at home in the suburbs, it wears a red dot.

Right now it has an AimPoint T-1.

It will soon have the VCOG or Leupold MK 1-6.

I have become a believer in variable power scopes.
It is from the construction of underground FEMA camps. I can't say more because there a guy parked in front of house in an AMC Pacer. He is acting like he talking on the phone, but I know better.

I have to sign off now & put my laptop in the microwave.
