Ok, I found one for $1700. Can I do better?

I've seen them as low as $1,500 new but not recently and not often... $1,700 is generally the low price on it unless you're really patient you may be able to grab a steal around a holiday when there are sales.

... Also I was looking at prices for mk6's today, appears many places have or are currently raising prices. Anyone happen to know or Leupold raised prices at the beginning of the year? It shows on their website for $2349 & historically Leupy's can be had at 70% of MSRP (1,700ish), but prices seem a bit higher than that for the most part...

How is the reticle a problem for under 100yds? With the illuminated center dot on the HDII and at 1x, that's all you need for "close range".

Significantly, but not allowed to say exactly how much. Just go to their website and register for the mil le program. You get a price sheet that has the cheapest prices you'll find anywhere.

The Razor 1-6x is a nice scope. I don't see why the reticle would be an issue at shorter distances - it has normal crosshairs and a very bright red dot center (similar to Leupold's firedot). Also fairly wide field of view at 1x, I think it's 120' at 100 yards.

In that price range but a little less money, coming out of the same factory in Japan (LOW), look at the SWFA SS 1-6x:

The SS has conventional but still very bright illumination, and a FFP MRAD based reticle. Construction is very solid. I would rate its glass as slightly behind the Razor, but still very good. You can often find them used at Sniper's Hide for quite a bit less, and SWFA offers an any-owner lifetime warranty on these.

Leupold raised prices for 2014 and it's been getting a lot of grumbling on other forums. Their prices weren't very competitive to begin with.
