Good on her. Not sure I would want my wife shooting for the simple reason she would know what I have and how much it Really cost.

Very nice! You are very lucky to have a woman in your life who is so involved in shooting. Can't wait to see the finished rifle!
Before you suggest that licensing, background checks, or other restrictions for the 2nd Amendment are reasonable... Apply those same ideas to the 1st and 4th Amendments. Then tell me how reasonable they are.

I wish my wife was this involved with shooting. Awesome.

Oh, and I couldn't help but cringe at the picture of the barrel nut being torqued while held in a take-down pin block. That's a good way to shear off a lug or damage the upper receiver. Next time you might consider using it sideways in the vice like this (image off google search), as it will fully support the upper receiver and you won't risk damage to the take down lugs:

You don't even need a purpose built block for the top of the upper. A piece of wood or plastic cutting board works fine.

I know...I wasn't thrilled with it either. I usually use an upper receiver clamshell that fully supports it. I typically have built rifles/uppers off of mil-spec receivers and haven't used billet that often. I wouldn't mind finding the 'female' portion that would fit a 1913 rail like you found a picture of. Either that or just get the stinkin' reaction rod from Geissele that I've been wanting.
