It probably would have just slid on if you would have hit the upper with a heat gun. I experienced a tight fit (as I expected and wanted) with my BCM4 upper and could only get the barrel started in the receiver. So I just hit the upper with a heat gun for a short period of time and then the barrel just slide right in with the Aeroshell 33ms grease. Ridiculous how easy it was. Why anyone resorts to sanding or freezing the barrel is beyond me.
Mine is bcm4 feeds and laser etched bcm logo with star in normal spot. Is this because BCM assembled my upper?
Yes.

Also one more question. Compared to my bcm lower the upper finish is really rough, almost like sandpaper. Is this a normal finish for the new uppers or bcm uppers in general?
I picked up a BCM 20" A4 during the sale and a BCM A2 lower from Rainier, and the match is perfect. The finish is just like my Colt. Not rough.
It's not rough but almost kind if chalky on my last three BCMs
