The difference was most readily apparent when shooting from improvised positions like peaking out from behind cover for a few snap shots or shooting one handed or while carrying something (or someone). When using my grizzly bear stance and hold on the gun, the difference wasn't as stark.

The std Vltor spring worked best for me using the A5H3 & A5H4 buffers, but the Springco GREEN worked best with the std A5H2 down to the A5H0.
Hmm, I may have to try that sometime.

There aren't many 16" middies that weigh what mine weighs. None shoot as smoothly.

I could save more weight if Iraq Gunz decided to make a lightweight melonited 18" barrel with rifle gas and .625" gas block journal.......or BCM an ELW version of same. That would easily save another 2 to 4 ounces between the barrel and commensurately lighter gas block.
I moved to a Leupold 1.25-4 VX-R Patrol on my build. Took off my mark 4 and moved it to my M1a. The weight is ~8 lbs now. The parts that you added did drop the weight a lot. I am good with the weight of my rifle.

After breaking in the barrel, the grouping has dropped down a bit too. The rifle length gas system gives a nice light recoil impulse. In fact, this rifle has turned into the standard go to for my family at the range or out plinking at the grandparents. I will likely move a way from the A2 stock and an A5 system. This would help with the LOP for younger son and wife.

You're already starting the next level.

    +1 about the barrel.

Got mine out today, shoots better than me, while giving the impression you're shooting a heavyweight 10-22. Since I do not have adjustable gas I think I will step up to an H3 to start.

Mine ran with an A5H4 without issue. It was really smooth, but I started to get muzzle dip as i lightened the gun.

Last time at the range I ended up with 5 shot groups closer to 1 MOA at 100 yards. I was fairly happy with that.

For a long, skinny, chrome lined barrel....that's not half bad. Thank you for sharing. I haven't really benched mine yet, but I might have to now that I have a few thousand down the pipe.

Also, what ammo were you using?
