I do not know if I will get in trouble for necrobumping, but I would like to add my own "Handy Rifle" to the thread.

18" rifle gas Nordic components barrel
    Vltor A5H2
    Geissele SD-E

After chatting with Buford via PM I plan on changing the stock out for a BCM and getting some lighter weight small parts to get to closer to 8lbs, I also changing the race brake to an EFAB.

    I'm fine with it.

So that micro offers greater range than an M4? I would never compare the two, but that's me. If you want an MK12 off-shoot, you want a Mod Holland. That's the only one that compares.

My SPR build is similar in concept, my fav to shoot by far.

I have a Rainier evo on the house gun.
    Pretty decent rail.

Nice boom sticks, but that's not the concept being discussed here. My first post clarifies that.

Updated weight and components for the handy rifle:

    6.86 lbs with no mag

    Rainier Arms enhanced trigger guard
V7 ambi Ti core selector lever
    V7 Ti take down pins
V7 aluminum end plate and castle nut
    V7 mag catch
    Phase 5 EBR V2
    Magpul K2
    BCM KAG
    BCM gunfighter stock
    Vltor A5H0 buffer
    Precision Armament EFAB

There aren't many 16" middies that weigh what mine weighs. None shoot as smoothly.

I could save more weight if Iraq Gunz decided to make a lightweight melonited 18" barrel with rifle gas and .625" gas block journal.......or BCM an ELW version of same. That would easily save another 2 to 4 ounces between the barrel and commensurately lighter gas block.

I see you ditched the h3 for a h0 buffer, reasons?

Adjustable gas block made it possible.

What difference did the H0 vs H3 make? Softer shooting?

I was able to use the Springco GREEN spring and turn the gas down a bit. I wouldn't say softer, necessary. Just lead overall gun movement in every direction. Front to back, left to right, up and down......It just called it down even more.

The difference was most readily apparent when shooting from improvised positions like peaking out from behind cover for a few snap shots or shooting one handed or while carrying something (or someone). When using my grizzly bear stance and hold on the gun, the difference wasn't as stark.

The std Vltor spring worked best for me using the A5H3 & A5H4 buffers, but the Springco GREEN worked best with the std A5H2 down to the A5H0.
