This thread has gotten so far out of the lane that we must be driving in England. But, another aspect into barrel cost is not only the quality specs required by the purchaser but also "How Many" barrels are going to be purchased. There are so many items that have to be factored in that add up to the "Cost of Sale".

Actually, neither of you seem to get it. Refer to Grant & Tom's posts above. Just because barrels are sourced from the same place, doesn’t mean that they are equal in quality.

FWIW, I'm not a fanboy. I don't even own a BCM, Noveske or Centurion barrel. But I know enough about how BCM does things to know that you are more likely to get a quality barrel from BCM. With the others, it's a total crap shoot.

I was referring to the thread derail. I was not insinuating towards Spikes, PSA, or whatever being equal to BCM, Centurion, or Noveske. We all know who's QC is up to par; there is no question.

Considering that this thread is not about that, let's not derail any further.

    Incorrect.

Posts like this really show there is a group of people here who have no idea what they are talking about. If you think they are all the same, that is great, the people who are familiar with the prints and design of the barrels know the difference, the companies who buy the rejected barrels or barrels that didn't pass the spec'd QC for other companies know the difference. The companies that spec their barrels and/ or have patents know the difference.

The posters here who keep saying there is no difference.... are simply wrong, and once again this thread goes to show people simply don't know what they don't know.

Thats great Stick, who are these people you speak of because I generally agree with everything you posted. If you read through what I posted here you would see that. I know that all the barrels are not the same. What I am saying is that the differences do not manifest in any significant way in accuracy or reliability. Dont take my word for it. Simply read the reviews made by people who own barrels (F.N made) by Spikes and P.S.A. Many of those people own Noveske, DD , Centurion barrels right along side Spikes and P.S.A CHF barrels. I own WOA and Rainier Arms Select barrels that are Sub MOA right along side my 1-1.5 MOA P.S.A barrel. These barrels have a HELL of alot more different specs than a Spikes/PSA CHF (F.N) barrel vs a Noveske /Centurion and yet.. they are still great shooters.

Tell me Stick, since all these barrels have shown to be quality performers and they all have different specs, which ones do you deem to suck?

Show why Spikes and P.S.A barrels are tangibly inferior performers with proof and prove your point with some evidence, not some vague application of general truths meant to create doubt instead of provide facts. If you can do that then I can admit that I just got lucky with my accurate P.S.A CHF barrel, which I fully realize is not specced exactly the same as a Spikes, Noveske, Centurion...etc

Do your own damn research. There have been numerous cases cited here on M4C and elsewhere over the last few years. For the record, I'm talking specifically about reliability and QC issues with PSA barrels.

There is no clear way to answer what you are asking. There's much more to barrels than accuracy and reliability. Besides, how is that accuracy and/or reliability measured? At what round count? What other variables?
    Example:
A business decides to see if it's viable to go forward with a project or idea. R&D tests ideas that may come to light. The original engineering designs the part based on what the product is geared to. Parts are manufactured and tested to QC programs. Before the finished part leaves, it's verified by QA.
There's a lot that can go on with an item as complex as barrels. There are things that are often overlooked by the end consumer that have direct effects on the product. There can be a significant investment in the costs of checking these items.
In the end, if it wasn't worth the cost to do this QA/QC, why would they bother?
I kind've summed it up and purposely left out some stuff to keep this short. Some things are far more complex than most folks realize.
