The knob is huge, digs my gut when slung and generally sucks, but I like the QD feature and it returns to zero very well if you properly index it before tightening, so I tolerate it.
Your opinion doesn't count. You're a gargantuan freak of nature that could probably just scare the QRP into staying tight.

I know you've made your purchase but this is where I would have bet you would have landed. It is what I would have done for the exact reasons you stated.
Already had a mount and you have familiarity with the optic.

The Pro is not a bad choice either though. The only faults I found with the Pro was the red dot seemed to be more of a starburst, even when turned down, than a circular dot. Not a deal breaker though. Not a deal breaker either but, there are better mount solutions out there as well.

My "SHTF" optic setup consists of a Mk4 1.5x5 Leupold and a M4s carried in a pack. Or vise versa as the need dictates.

I held it in one hand and my T1 with American Defense mount in the other and honestly the weight difference is almost unnoticeable.

I have to say, I'm a new fan of the Aimpoint PRO. The only thing I don't like is that the batteries are harder to find than the CR2032 of the micros. I had to go to a battery specialty store to find a spare. I may order some from Amazon just to have on hand.
the AMD mount must be a pig then because my T1 on DD mount is 7 oz. lighter than the PRO with stock mount.

Batteries Plus stores carry the battery you need. they have a house brand for less than the name brands that they guarantee against leakage and it seems to have the same life. I bought enough for several years of use...

Whatever the numbers are, the perceived weight is not that different.

There is a mod here somewhere that fixes the loosening issue but I believe it defeats the "QD" function of it. That may/may not matter to you.

I agree the Aimpoint mount is not the best. But you can easily sale it on the EE. $50 seems to be the going price and is what I sold mine for last year. It helps to recoup a bit of that money and put it toward a LaRue or whatever.

I've owned an H-1, two Pros, and a Comp M4S.

I still have a Pro and Comp M4S - if I had gotten the T-1 I'd still have a Micro.

All are outstanding, each with different traits that make them more or less desirable, depending on your uses.

The M4S is on my primary go to 5.56 rifle (SCAR 16 SBR). Everything else serious has a variable optic. The Pro is on my 9mm AR SBR.

the numbers I quoted are T1 with DD mount and stock PRO. if yours are different that would account for some of the perception but I can tell you switching out a PRO for the T1 turned a BCM 16" Midlength with Centurion cutout rail from a pig into a swan. ymmv...

Well, I can see a bit of a cumulative effect, there...

I held a stock PRO in one hand and a T1 with American Defense mount and spacer in the other. Yes, there IS a weight difference. I just said that it wasn't that noticeable. When I lift my rifle to aim, I notice the weight in the flashlight moreso than the optic.

I'm shooting a standard barrel profile carbine with skinny CAR handguards. My optic is the only thing on my receiver other than a MagPul MBUS. My light is on the front sight tower. I noticed a drop in weight when I removed my flashlight temporarily for cleaning, but since I don't have a lot of aftermarket accessories on my weapon I'm sure that in my case the few extra ounces on the optic just don't add to the "weight stacking".

I have 3 micros, I've had the Pro, m4s, comp 2, comp 3, the only time I noticed any weight difference is playing with them in my hands. When actually using them I didn't notice a weight difference.
I kept the micros because I like them on my SBR's.
Anything over 12.5 I would go M4s because of batteries.
Although my favorite rds is the Trijicon SRS 02.
