I tried the offset Micro thing with an ACOG.
Go with offset irons. When folded, they are a smaller profile on the rifle than an offset RDS. I didn't personally have a problem with the offset KAC irons I tried out, but then again, I only used it out to 25m. Past that and the TA11 was more than adequate.
Personally, I've been training more and more with low magnification scopes (a TA11, for example) and find myself more accurate running those than offset anything. 2.5x isn't anywhere near as bad as you may be imagining and I don't know if offset irons/RDS would be worth the hassle/expense. If you were running a higher magnification scope, like a 5x+, it would have some merit.
Get the glass first and if you NEED offset aiming to supplement it, then drop the cash for it. Personally, I have no need since I also run a PEQ that has a visible laser for my 0-10m aiming needs.
