R-guns is somewhat local to me and I stopped by 5-6 years ago to pick up some cheap 5.45 ammo they used to have. They had a whole bunch of R-guns stripped uppers and lowers in wide variety of colors. I was kind of intrigued and asked them who makes their stuff and a sales clerk told me that all their stuff was good to go as it was made by DPMS (they had a whole lot of their stuff too). I thanked him got my crates and left. Hope that helps some.

Iraqgunz I have one more question for you. What do you think of RRA? I only ask because I am pretty sure your dead on with R-guns. I figured they were junk. However like I said I am a big RRA supporter. Just wondering what your take on them is. You seem to have a lot of knowledge on quality ARs. I own a couple RRA and they have been great.

I am not IG, nor do I have his experience. But I feel pretty confident in saying his answer will be similar.

Rock River tends to focus on their vaunted Fit and Finish above the things that actually matter in a weapon.

How many rounds do you have through your RRA guns to qualify them as great? What kind of shooting?
Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly; the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly.

    RRA in a nutshell.

    1. Chrome moly barrels= cheap

    2. 1/9 twist and tight chambers= stupid. Overgassed most of the time.

    3. S/A bolt carrier groups with no listed specs. Carpenter 158, etc..?

    4. I believe they still use commercial lower receiver extensions and carbine buffers.

So nothing about them is appealing in any way and they are generally overpriced. Run one of them in a good carbine class once or twice and then you will see how well it holds up. From what I have seen they are mediocre at best.

I'm sure they no longer do this, but when M4 feed ramps started to be a must have, instead of buying the proper uppers and barrel extensions, RRA would do a quickie Dremel job and call it an M4 ramp. They also don't seem to like staking their receiver extension castle nuts, preferring to slather on the loctite. This makes replacing one of their commercial REs with a proper mil-spec one a very difficult chore, usually involving a torch. At least on the one I attempted.

Unless you are getting your core/rguns ar's for less than 600$ and are absolutely sure you will only ever shoot them at the range (plinkers) there is no reason in hell to get them. For budget guns get an S&W sport or do a build from palmetto state armory. You'll get much better quality and be supporting companies that also put out GOOD milspec gear. I wouldnt give a dollar to core/dpms/rra ext. If you are spending 6-900 than get a bcm build or a colt for 1k instead and get the best in the business. Over 1k and you could be building bcm/dd/lmt/noveske guns.

One of my friends just bought a Windham gun for 1400k with a no name (non-free float) quad rail. I almost slapped him. Idiot could have gotten a factory daniel defense ddm4 online! People buy shitty ar's for the same price as great ones. It is a common complex. The store will have a colt with the price jacked up and then use that to push people onto crappy guns, when if they just shopped around theyd find colt/dd/bcm guns for the same price as their shitty dpms/stag/rra/core whatever. It's not even "I dont want to pay more money for the name" in many cases you could be paying the same amount!

Ok I guess I am going to catch a lot of flack with this but here it goes. I am a RRA guy. I have owned several. I put thousands of rounds down the pipe. I have several friends who own RRA and also have put thousands of rounds down the pipe. I can not set here and honestly think of one issue, not one issue that we have ever encountered with are RRA rifles. I notice on here it is all about Colt for the most part. I will not own a Colt. One of the sayings my DS use to say to us was never depend on your weapon. Remember it was made by the cheapest bidder. Cheapest bidder was Colt. Colts are Mil-Spec yes. Other then that what is great about them. I guarantee I could out shoot a colt with my RRA. Yes Colts barrels are better because they are chrome lined. That just means better barrel life and corrosion resistant. Chrome molly is better for accuracy. None of you guys are going into battle anytime soon so your wasting your money on Mil-Spec. Mil-Spec is not all that great either. For instance the triggers. Mil-spec triggers suck. If you have a chrome bolt it is not milspec. Which I like for cleaning purposes. The only thing I can think of about mil spec that is good is the barrel. That's it. People talk about mil spec butstocks and shit. That is funny. I have seen in Iraq several Mil Spec stuff break easily ie. Buttstocks, pistol grips etc.. I do like DD. I am actually getting ready to buy the DD V7. I have no experience with BCM. Noveski is a little out of my price range same with Wilson Combat. I cant stand DPMS. However I am a RRA guy. Great rifles. Check out this video if you have time.

And with that jumbled nonsense we are now closed. Thanks for stopping by. You asked a question and you have been given honest information. Enjoy the RRA.
