Exactly. If you wanted it to be any more secure, you would have to tack weld it!!!

It's more of a "may" recommendation, one is all it takes. I've seen a very light "field staking" on a friends gun hold up very well on an RE that spun twice before getting staked(long story). I also did two once and vowed to never do it again after having to switch out the end plate.

Didn't realize you could re-use the endplate if you only staked it in one spot. Good to know especially when it's a QD endplate.

Thanks for all the input guys.

Also thanks for the tip I'll have to remember that next time, I'm sure there will be another one, it was fun putting my own lower together. Is there a certain size punch you used? I got a punch set on the way as well but I had heard people saying the spring punch works well, that's why I didn't wait.
I use a 4in 1/8 taper point Starlett punch for the hand punch and a Lisle Auto Punch for the auto. Works like a charm.

Depends on the material. I personally double stake aluminum endplates, double stake aluminum endplates with aluminum castle nuts, and only single stake steel endplates. IMO no reason to ever double stake 2 on steel. The staking will be strong enuf you won't ever see an issue. Plus it makes it a real pita to remove.

I don't know man. My factory Colt 6920 was staked in two out of the three slots. My BCM factory lower was also staked two out of three. When I built up my Noveske lower, I followed Colt and BCM's lead all the while thinking "Two is one, one is none." Ahhh. you gotta luv this AR 15 platform. So many ways to express yourself!

The requirement is supposed to be stakings in two locations. That usually happens 90% of the time. I have a custom made staking punch, made from a chisel. I don't like auto center punches and find it's easier to use a hammer.

Guessing it does a rectangular stake job? That def fits well for the milsped castle nuts with the rectangular channels on it.

The v7 castle nuts have round notches in them for staking so in my case the center punched worked out perfectly and filled the entire staking channel.

I had no idea it was a requirement. I could've sworn that mil M4 i was messing with had only one stake point. Then again, I was too busy checking out the upper and all the fun stuff he had on it so I must've missed it. I did notice the rectangular staking and thought it was nice and efficient. Been contemplating modding a chisel, myself, ever since. Could you post a photo of yours, IG? I'd love to finally get one done.
