Reloading is the way to go for sure. In fact, building a 300BLK upper was the impetus it took to get me into reloading. I can now reload range ammo for about 25c a round if convert 223 cases to 300BLK. No way I'll go back to paying $1 per round to shoot paper and dirt.

Not to stray too far from the original topic of the thread, but my 300BLK has functioned just fine on my SBR lower with an H buffer. But I just ordered an A5 system to see if I get any advantage from the rifle length system. This lower is used for multiple length gas systems/uppers.

I've used the A5 type system on many 5.56 and 300 Blk uppers. The setup isn't the same for all, but it can work well.

I'm wondering if the A5 system will work with the following items in the build list

5.56 Caliber 16" ELW MID BCM Upper
Vltor A5 with either the A5 spring or Sprinco Green (I have an H2 and H3 Buffer to try)
    LMT Enhanced carrier

I may have to get a lighter buffer than the Vltor standard but am unsure at this point...?

That should work fine, might need to try some different weights and springs for best results.

It will work fine if you polish the bearing surfaces of the bolt carrier. Don't sweat it.

EDIT: My BCM 14.5" middy ran 100% with an A5H4 and a green spring using pmc.

Thanks for the advise. I will proceed with the build as fast as financially possible.

Edit: Will report on the build once complete and tested

What's the difference between the Srinco Green spring and the regular spring that comes with the A5?

The A5 spring is SS rifle buffer spring. The springco is a CS spring.... As far as lb rating... I don't know the color system on springco.

The Sprinco green spring is chrome silicon and generally thought of as a better spring from what I've read here. I have a regular A5 spring and can not comment on the difference from first hand experience.

IIRC BufordTJustice compared them and found the Sprinco green to be noticeably stronger. CS buffer springs seem provide a more consistent cyclic rate and last longer than milspec ones.
