I cut my fsb - easy job with a dremel, vice, ar vice block, grill paint, and 3 hours - so I could benefit from the factory pin fit on the reinstall. Arguably more secure than the low pro screws. Looks great... Don't notice it was cut. I went with the 13.5" nsr keymod. Love it

    Longer Free Floating Forearm's

I too really like the longer free float guards and I ended up getting a Midwest industries 15" SS gen2 and installed a Troy mini gas block.

I too have the same handguard, and I use the Midwest grip panels on it. Very comfortable, especially because I tend to position my hand in different areas depending on what I'm doing. I'd post a pic but I'm at work and Google image search works wonders these days...

    I have a 12"on my 16 carbine with a cut FSB and a 15 on my SPR18 with a low pro GB.
I think those lengths are perfect for those barrels.

Doesn't this rifle have the picatinny gas block? I don't think he would want to be shaving that.

Yes, the ORC has a railed gas block so you would need to replace it with a low pro or possibly shave it .

There are plenty of rails with cut outs to choose from. I have one rifle with the JP Enterprises VTAC rail that has a cut out. This is my work gun, it has a Daniel Defense RIS II with the cut out. I don't think neither are goofy like mentioned here.

The ORC doesn't gave a front sight post like you do. It's a gas block with pica tinny rails on top. So it would like a little wacky having rail break rail break rail. Especially if he wants to put his new front sight closer to the muzzle end of the new rail. That would also introduce the possibility of putting his mitts right on the gas block.
