My brother saw Deliverance and bought a Bow. I saw Deliverance and bought an AR-15.
That staking is fine.
Explain to me why colt staking is the better staking. Please use legitimate data present from bcg's that have comparable staking to the Salient product, as well as bolt carriers that use colt style staking. Not "its better" or "Its whats used by the military". I would like hard facts that PROVE that the style of staking that Salient does is insufficient and inferior.
He's correct in saying that top chisel staking sucks. It looks like Salient did some kind of weird hybrid smack on it. Personally, I think it is displacing enough metal into the screw from the side based on the pictures. I think they should probably revise and refine their method of staking keys though.
Here is a good thread/resource to look into - https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...8comparison%29
TiN has its place. But it IS NOT on an AR bolt group. TiN offers no corrosion protection. A buddy had a TiN carrier that rusted badly just from humidity. Wasn't exposed to rain or anything.... just the humidity in his house.
I think TiN is used on rifle buttons.... in that realm the button is constantly soaked in cutting/machining oils.
