Nit-picking semantics because you can't disprove his argument.... do you have proof that these coatings are better? Do you have the R&D that Colt or BCM has? I personally don't care how someone spends their money, and as long as their rifle suits their needs good. But just because one coating or alloy is good for some tasks it doesn't mean it's good or better for others. I tend to trust the professionals.

A quality BCG with a PVD coating is a good thing. I've been following this thread to see how the TiN works out.

Mil spec BCG is gold standard. We know it works and is trusted.

A mil spec TiN or IonBond DLC coated BCG many have some secondary benefits when it comes to cleaning and maintenance.

Let's get this back on topic!

I've fudged with every coating and gimmick out there to my knowledge. NONE of them aid in clean up of the really dirty part... which is inside the carrier and on the bolt tail. Any of them wipe of on the outside... maybe with varying degrees of effort... but that effort is negligible in my opinion.

With TiN, you get the same, but less corrosion resistance. It's a no brainer. TiN sucks for a BCG.

One more thing. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. We have had these discussions before about the various coatings, etc.. Let's try and keep this thing focused. For the record I myself have some carriers that have black Ion bonding and some that are NP3. I have noticed that lubricant tends to not want to adhere to them as they would with standard parkerized MILSPEC carriers. But I also know the sum of all the others components. I also tend to not get worked up over carbon on the bolt tail because I am no longer in the "white glove inspection" military and I have learned that generous amounts of lubricant will reduce it and make it easier to clean when the time is right.

When you say "us" I have no idea which "us" you are referring to. Additionally we have had people who did not disclose their affiliations which is why we have that rule.

I am not against NiB/ NP3/ etc. I have a NiB bolt. It works just like my other bolts. That is why I will probably not buy another.

I use ewl grease on both types, they all clean up exactly the same. wiping. bolt tail...lol...people remove carbon from their bolt tails?

We're heading off on a tangent here.... My point wasn't that one needs to remove carbon from the bolt.... Just that wiping the exterior is not an indication of much... the exterior is not where the real fouling occurs.

I am in no way affiliated with salient. I am also no expert on coatings. Like i previously stated i didnt buy it for the TiN coating, nor because i thought it would be better than phosphate or nib. I bought it out of curiosity for salients work. I would like to order a tier package from them and $300 is a good way to gauge their work in my hands without spending $1,500-$2,000 on my glock's. Whether its worth the cost is completely up to the buyer, and i cant and will not make that decision for you. Thats not my place to tell you what to do with your finances, i just want to let you come to your own conclusion. Which is why i did not originally state the price in my initial post. To say i imagined that this would transform my rifle into a magical unicorn slayer would be a statement created by the mind of someone who didnt bother to read the first paragraph, or at least take in any of what i was saying. It was a purchase of curiosity. If it shatters and breaks into a million pieces, ill post it. If it doesnt wear whatsoever after 10,000 rounds, ill post it. So far there hasnt been a scratch or even a mark to this point, and whether or not that matters is completely up to you. I dont mind wear on the phosphate coated bcg's ive had in the past, nor would i on this unit. On the subject of colt, i do believe thy lost the contract to FN due to quality issues, but hey thats another topic for another thread
