I've always changed my battery once a year. I realize that they will go longer than that, but for a duty weapon, I want to be sure it will always be on. I check it every day, and replace the battery once a year on my birthday. That $3 a year is an easy investment to insure there's a fairly "fresh" battery in the Aimpoint, considering the duration these things will run with one battery.

If I remember correctly, this optic is what was on my carbine for most of 2013. I kept the optic on at all times, and changed the battery every three months. Pretty sure I had an older one. At about three months the dot would start fading. Might be a little more or less for you, or if you have a newer generation then I did, WAY different.
