    CR123 recharge format?

Eneloop batteries are considered the best rechargeable AA/AAA on the market. But who makes the best one in the single CR123 format?

Also does anybody make 12V battery charger that will do AA/AAA and CR123?

I went down this road a little while ago. I had trouble finding a good reviews/info on CR123A rechargeable battery/charger.

My solution was to go with a light that accepted both CR123 and 18650 Li-Ion batteries. The 18650 is the approximate size of two CR123. I've not used the 18650 in my light yet. Only comment is the 18650 is slightly longer than the length of the two CR123. So with two SureFire CR123 batteries there is slight movement of the batteries against the spring within the housing. How this will effect the light during extended recoil I can't say as of yet.

I choose the 18650 option as these are basically the same batteries that are used to make up lap top battery packs. The difference is these have the nipple and flat end added like you see on AA batteries.

There are protected and unprotected Li-Ion batteries. The protected version has a small circuit in place to prevent overcharging and possible explosion.

I then purchased a charger that would charge my Eneloop AAA and AA plus the 18650. I'm very pleased with this charger, quite a quick charge on the AAA/AA.

I have looked at the 18650 before. But in this case that form factor is to long. Its got to be a CR123 format since the device that I am looking at only takes 1x CR123 type battery. That battery charger has got a lot of good reviews on amazon, WOW alot. 365 reviews 4.5 stars.

I bought the rechargeable CR123 setup from Surefire last week, but have yet to try it out.

I figured if a rechargeable package was for sale on their site, some kind of due diligence was done on the quality of the manufacturer and the setup provided adequate results. At a minimum, I would hope Surefire would be comfortable that these batteries would not harm any of their products.

Then again, sometimes I expect too much. We'll see what happens.

the ultimate TSHTF lite is a Surefire 9P bored to 18mm to accept 18650 cells. You can run almost anything in it.

    3x123
    1x18650

And as it turns out, 2xAA are the same size as 3x123. I run a very low powered module, Malkoff M61LLL which runs for 100 hours off 2xAA cells and generates between 10-20 lumens. Lithium AAs are much brighter. Of course 3x123 are the brightest at 40 or so lumens.
