How does the Apex feel in your hands? Is it pretty rigid and have any flex?

B5 Keymod hand guards are very slim - for $28.00 you can't go wrong, no shipping charge.

I swapped out the big, clunky military style hand guards (I'm sure there's some sort of nomenclature, but I don't know what it is...) for the B5 Keymods and what a difference.

Plus, they were a snap to change out, but I guess they should be since I have a Delta ring tool.

I'd also look at the SLR stuff

I have a SOLO, round with slightly raised flats.
    Comfy, sturdy and light.

The 9" version I have seems to be very rigid. Nice combination of traction without being abrasive. It fits my large-ish hands very well.
