WS6, to build on what you noted, even the folks that DO put up a legit gripe in a calm and reasonable manner and name the company, through no fault of their own, can provide opportunity for some other yahoo (who's blithely unconcerned that he's completely outside of any given situation, and should probably keep his dickholster shut) to lose his damned mind because his educated-to-the-standardized-test ass thinks he's somehow being helpful on behalf of the one being calm....by screeching like a Marseille fishwife, prompting others to do the same, and then it turns competitive to see who can out-clever/out-shout. Whatever can be done to keep our percentage of mouth-breathers at their coloring books is of worth to everybody who prefers valid info to gun-community Kardashians.

My favorite, to date ('bout 3yrs ago...?), was the idiot that was losing his poop because a company hadn't answered his call within 48hrs. He'd called on a Friday afternoon, was bitching about it Sunday evening.....and SHOT SHOW kicked off on Monday. Well, no shit, Sherlock....

All's above-board, here, so far. Let's please keep it that way. Even the "instant" communications we enjoy have a human element that makes them less-than-instant.
I understand. What I mean is, this issue will be handled. I don't think anyone thinks otherwise. Would it be against the rules for op to have said who made the bolt? I kindof viewed it as reporting the accuracy of a barrel or something. OP found an interesting quirk. It's a given that it's a flop that will be fixed. I dunno. I'm probably viewing it all wrong.

    UPDATE:

I heard back from them today - they want the BCG back, will inspect, assess, and replace and them mail back to me. They are providing a shipping label. So probably another week figuring 2-3 day shipping there, a day or two for them to do this, and another 2-3 days back.

Dollars to donuts, they sent you either a 6.8SPC or 7.62x39 bolt instead of a 5.56 bolt.

Can you measure the bolt lugs? Width and length? Is it coated in any way?

....which is why I defined it here, as does every staffer who runs across threads where initial contact has either NOT been attempted or where the vendor/manufacturer hasn't been given, in OUR judgement, a reasonable chance to respond. Staff fills in the gaps that reside between the undefined and the desired endstate of the Tribal Elders. Every member agreed to abide by this by the act of registering for membership.

You should consider accepting that not every single situation can be needlessly sub-categorized and codified, ergo why M4C has PEOPLE in place to make judgements in those instances where a judgement need be made. Judgement's been made. Brig-lawyer it as much as it takes to feel better, so long as you do so to yourself, or otherwise no more in this thread.

Having said that, for the sake of further background, for anybody reading:

WS6, had the vendor/manufacturer been mentioned, understanding that initial contact had been made....very recently...but no response had yet come, the thread would have been closed, and the OP encouraged to contact staff (me, in this case) when 1) the vendor/manufacturer responds, be it to tell him to send it back, how to fix it, or to pound sand, or 2) they'd failed to respond after a reasonable interval (judgement call). If we say "Closing this, contact me when you hear something...".....we're NOT KIDDING. We've re-opened threads at the request of an OP how's got his mind right, and will continue to do so.

If the interaction is positive, we want our membership to know who's willing to stand by their product.

If the interaction is negative, we particularly want our membership to know who is not willing to stand by their product.

If the interaction was.....nonexistent!....we want our membership to know who's not even responsive.

The latter two, in particular, rates dissemination in a public setting....but only after all parties have had an initial chance to settle things on as equal a footing as can be had. After that, M4C has ZERO beef with being a potential platform for somebody to seek public redress of their issue.

The OP seems to be on the path to redress, which is the desired endstate. At this point, it's his call as to whether or not he names whomever it is he's dealing. Let's let HIM make it, and wish him luck....

Then yes some is amiss I've seen barrel extension before that were off a degree or two. Receivers where the index pin slot was machined off. Sometimes just loosening the barrel and the retorqueing will fix it.

No kidding. I don't take any holidays off (people like to try to die regardless of what day it is, it seems).
