I've heard that Reloader 15 powder (as used in M118LR) is particularly temperature sensitive as well, meaning muzzle velocity can change a lot based on the temperature of the cartridge (laying on the ground on a hot day for instance).

I have no idea why they went away from 4064... or have not switched to Varget.

From what I'm reading here it looks like 4064 can produce decent accuracy?
I've gotten great accuracy with 4064 and 175 SMKs out of a 20" Remington. That said, I really only load precision loads with Varget anymore. It seems to be a little more consistent and I can squeeze a bit more velocity with similar powder charges.
