I'm digging up an old thread, but I did say I'd update this when I managed to get something sorted out.
I took the advice and left the DPMS alone, but I have managed to pick up a DD MK18 upper for my DDM4v5. I've also picked up an AAC 12.5" 300BLK upper. Thanks for the advice, I ended up with better than expected.
I picked up a H2 buffer and extra power spring too, just in case it's necessary.
The last DPMS 11.5 inch barrel I saw had the bore so off center that I was shocked that it didn't strike the flash hider on exit. DPMS would be my last choice, if there was any other choice.
On a related note, while I do not own any 1 in 9" twist barreled ARs, it seems to me that they make even less sense in a short length like 11.5" and under. In longer barrels, I can see the velocity gain cancelling out the twist rate deficiency (compared to 1 in 7"). This may not make a major difference for 55 grain bullets, but might for heavier bullets. I don't have any numbers in front of me to back this up, just going on hunch.
