    Keeping BUIS always Up

I am having a hard time finding an answer on this.

I removed my red dot & plan on shooting irons for a bit. Here is my issue, I really like a lot of the flip up iron rear sights & would like to use the sight as my primary rear sight, I like them more then fixed rear sights on Flattops

    1. How bad is it to flip it up & down A LOT?
    2. My Rear sight does lock in the UP position, should I just leave it up?
My Rear sight is the Midwest Industries ERS Back Up iron Sight

Since just getting this rifle a month ago & accessorizing it & running some drills, I find myself flipping the rear sight up & down a lot, taking it in & out of my gun sock....putting the rifle away each night etc

Should I switch to a Fixed rear like a DD 1.5 or can I get years & years of use out of this rear sight I have.

Even though I will be flipping it up & down a lot

I see no problem flipping it up and down as many times as you like, but typing in CAPS ALL THE TIME SUCKS!

Is there a reason you typed this in bold?

    You're good.

    To answer your questions directly:

    1. It isn't.
    2. If you want to.

Wish I could be more helpful, but anything more is just overthinking it. These are just pieces of steel and springs.

I keep my flip up sights up all the time, seeing the red dot through the aperture helps tame my astigmatism.

I've marked the rear's windage position with a yellow paint pen to see if it has drifted at all due to me adjusting it.

I think you'll be fine bringing them up and down a lot.

There are some people who think that if your optic ever goes down and you need your irons as a backup. You REALLY need them, so they advocate running them up all the time. I plan on running my buis's up at my next carbine class to see how I like it before making the jump to a fixed rear sight like a DD 1.5.

I may keep the rear sight always flipped up

I did end up throwing my MI ERS on the EE for a DD A1.5

Whether I keep this rear sight or get a fixed, I realized my gunsock is a little tight for this rifle & I really have to fight the rifle in the case. I tried with the rear up & it wouldnt go.

I Think Im gonna get a borestore AR15 rifle silicone lined gun sock, should be a lot bigger & offer the same protection for rust

    keep the answers coming
