Post In all reality, I'm NEVER going to wear out a Noveske...

    ....stainless barrel, right?

I'm trying to decide which to buy.....N4 or Stainless.

I want the one hole accuracy but with the "diamond like" toughness and peace of mind of chrome lining.

Also, what are the contours of each? The stainless look a bit thicker....

No, not with today's ammo prices. If you can afford to do so, the price of a new barrel should not bother you in the least.

I think you'd have all the peace of mind you could ever want with the N4 barrel as it's double lined with heavy chrome. The stainless barrels can still hold their own and in all likelihood, you'll never wear one out under normal conditions.

Noveske will do custom work on barrels(stainless), just call and ask, I'm sure you can have your choice contour in one of his SS barrels.

I had a conversation with John Noveske once about the SS vs. chrome decision.
We discussed the ups and downs of SS, accuracy at a plus, but longevity vs. the chrome wouldn't be as much. And that in a balls to the wall firefight repeated times you could eventually shoot out the SS. But the SS barrels aren't meant for that, they are for accuracy. The 14.5 barrel is just as accurate as most 16 inch regular barrels. And in the end those "Defend the Alamo" firefights are pretty rare and shooting out you rifling at that point would be the least of your concerns, grab a couple of frags and man the .50!

I'm also interesting in hearing first hand experiences with stainless Noveske barrels and high round count
