    Taller Colt front sight post?

I searched through the archives on here and couldn't find what I was looking for, here's my problem: I ordered a Colt 6720 (LW carbine) from Grant, great gun for a great price, however it did not come with an F marked front post. Wasn't that big of a deal to me, however I need to max out the sight as high as I can in order to zero it using my Magpul MBUS gen 2. I've got it pretty close to zeroed, but it is still a little high at 50 yards with the post as high as it can go without having the base be above the retaining pin. I know that DPMS, Bushmaster, and a few other unsavory brands sell higher front sights, and if that's the best option will they fit into my Colt's front post (are all the screws/base discs the same size/threading)? I'd appreciate any insight, if it comes down to just dealing with it being slightly high at 50 (since I zero my RDS at 100 this would actually be closer to that zero for my irons) that's not the worst thing.

Those taller aftermarket sights will fit. More than likely the Rear BUIS is to blame... the FSB is certainly an F... although they're not always marked as such.

I actually like my POI to be near an inch LOW at 50 so it's close to zero at 100 yards.

Oh my bad, yeah it would be closer if it was low at 50, idk what I was thinking since the 100 yard zero has the round always low except for @ 100 where POA=POI. That's surprising if it might be the MBUS as I haven't had that issue with any of my other ones, but it could be. I appreciate the input Mark, I will be ordering a replacement taller post today.

I'd try a different rear sight too. I like my front sight to have protection from the FSB ears. I don't know what you have access to... but I'd be trying a carry handle to see if it isn't that rear flippy that's messing you up.

I also have a LW barrel colt, and you are right, they ship these without an "F" site base. I don't know why. My factory post is serviceable, but its at the maximum position. Any aftermarket front post will work fine, I have been looking for a "thin" version of the taller post.

You need to order a tall colt post from specialized armament.

Is that a department through Colt or an outside distributor?

Outside distributor. They are the premier Colt factory part supply company. Note they have a $50 minimum/slightly longer shipping times/aren't much for chatting about the weather. The parts are legit Colt.

I think this is the one

I have no affiliation with them, link for educational purposes. I have shopped there for some high dollar items and was always taken care of.

ETA looks like Brownells might have the proper part too.

Thanks for the hook-up Scott & Split, I will definitely be ordering through them now and most likely in the future. I'm glad there is a site that carries smaller Colt factory parts, since Colt's website doesn't have shit and Grant has mostly the big stuff.

Those are not correct. Those are for commercial flattop carbines and commandos. Those are short posts.
