    Armed school employees permitted in Texas, Abbott says

    "Texas school districts that designate employees to carry concealed handguns do not violate a state law banning firearms on school premises, Attorney General Greg Abbott said in an opinion released Friday."

    I am 100% for this. But, IMO they need to be careful with the verbiage. In Texas if a person has a CHL and Level 3 (armed) security license they can not operate on both licenses at the same time. You are either on your CHL or your L3. A CHL can not perform security duties and has to be concealed. A L3 has to open carry & can perform security duties. I highly doubt the majority of school staff have & maintain an L3 which would be invalid if a security manager wasn't running the show anyways. Which is why armed security is usually rented. Most schools don't have money for that.

    So that leaves staff with CHL's that can perform as a "safety group". They really need to avoid words like 'security' , 'guardian' and the such. By using the 'wrong' word they could have heat brought down on them by the anti's for breaking the law.
