Nassau, NY FFL requires DL from out of state seller in order to *receive* rifle

    Hi there everyone,

I'm selling a rifle to a NY resident, and they're doing the transfer at an FFL in Nassau County. The FFL claims that in Nassau County, in order for them to receive the rifle, they need my DL. I've never heard of this before in any county, municipality, or state, and I can't find any other claims or citations of law elsewhere online. Are they pulling my chain? Do I really need to provide them with a copy of my DL in order to send them a rifle?

This seems really bizarre, but I thought I'd ask in case anyone else is in the know.

    Are you a FFL holder?

If not, I would want to receive the firearm from a FFL licensee or from a individual,a current drivers license.

How else would you prove where the firearm came from if the need came up?

My FFL here in Texas requires individuals, sending a firearm to me via him, to send him a copy of their DL.
