    The Amazing 2014 Boston Marathon

    Beautiful weather for a truly amazing event that went off without a hitch. You could feel the electricity in the air, the sense of purpose and pride in everyone who was there. The Boston PD was there in force, ever vigilant but extremely approachable and friendly, as was all of those in charge of the event. The sky was busy with Blackhawk helicopters, which I found comforting. It was clear that no scum bags were going to be allowed to ruin the day. My hat is off to the city of Boston and all of those who made it such a memorable event!

    As you may know, my daughter Emily ran as part of a team of nurses from Massachusetts General Hospital. The photo of her below (taken by one of her friends) IMO sums it up, taken just short of the finish line. Notice the Boston PO in the background clapping and cheering the runners on, an example of what made it such an incredible day;

    This is a photo I took of her at Heart Break Hill, which is at the 20 mile mark of the 26.2 mile course. She ran like a gazelle the rest of the way, making it to the finish line before Boston's overwhelmed public transit system could get us there;

    It feels good to have taken the day back from the monsters.

    Glad to see y'all had a good and safe time, one question if I may.

    Did you or anyone you were there with notice a bunch of guys running around wearing Craft International hats (punisher logo), khaki cargo pants, and talking on SAT phones?

    Just wondering . . . thanx!

    I did not, but we did not make it to Boylston Street/finish line (scene of the 2013 bombings) until late in the day when it was very much winding down.

    Couldn't have asked for better!

    Just as an FYI, the two holding hands in the photo above are both medical personnel serving in the USN, on leave to see their friend Emily run the race. Kelly (the gal) is qualified on the 50 BMG MG and tells me she very much enjoys cutting lose with it.

    A show of force, an airborne "don't **** with us" billboard - at least that's the way I thought of it. Maybe there are others who didn't think of it that way.
