I missed this question until the bump. It is a Novekse "chainsaw" upper that has no visible flaws. I must have found it.![]()
Other KeyMod accessories can deal with the apparently shallow KeyMod slots, but the VG-S-KM depends upon the handguard being 100% in spec. I just made a simple shim, placed it on top of the plunger, and when I tighten the grip, it locks in place just fine.
I also know that if I felt this was a real problem with the NSR, Noveske would take care of me. I'm not really worried about it at this point. It's not a hard use upper, anyway.

I also have another non-chainsaw NSR that has no problems, which is why I suspect the slightly out of spec KeyMod machining is the "chainsaw" of the one marked as such.

Just received an email about a Mod 3 VG. At $18 and with the grey in-stock I ordered one.
Seems like the QD is gone and you need a tool for these versions.
