Not sure if you are implying zombies are minorities or criminals and I don't want to make assumptions. But their website clearly states something completely different.
Additionally...Z.E.R.T. is an organization that uses “Zombie” as a metaphor for any natural or man-made disasters that will occur in our lives; Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, criminal attacks or any type of situation where being prepared, trained and most importantly, armed with the proper mindset is required to see you and your family through to safety.
Again, not sure exactly where you were going with your statement and I might have missed it entirely. Back in my day though we called the "bad guys" goblins. Pretty sure it was a Cooper thing.Z.E.R.T. fosters a friendly and safe environment for people from all walks of life and backgrounds to interact, learn and train together. The Zombie Apocalypse theme is a bridge to many people who otherwise may not seek out traditional training courses. By being a part of Z.E.R.T. they are exposed to many different opportunities for enhancing their skills. Participation in Z.E.R.T. training courses also creates safe students with a foundation in the basics that can be applied to courses and activities anywhere in the shooting/training world.

Let me clarify.
If you're shooting at a zombie target, you're not practicing on how to kill a tornado. ZERT uses the "zombie apocalypse" or "zombies" (plural) as a way to prepare for any sort of SHTF, much like the CDC's zombie preparation guide and Costa's zombie thing.
An individual zombie is not a natural disaster, it's something that's engaged and destroyed with a weapon. And it's explicitly criminals in their description, not minorities. I don't know where you got the minorities part from.
Back to the point, anyone a member or know about them? They have patches and a gear display at The Range in LV, which is just about all I know besides their website and YouTube videos. Is their training legit? Is the group serious or more of a fun hobby?

Ok, now I'm there. Got it.
The minority thing comes from my knowledge of "militia groups" which aren't really "militia groups" using similar code words for "minorities / undesirables" and things like that. Just wasn't sure if you were suggesting these guys were of the same mindset or not. The PC "stand in" comment left it open to that interpretation. But that is why I asked to be sure.
And yeah it looks like SHTF training geared towards taking out the bad guys and just calling them zombies. I just looked at the whole squadron, call sign, plank member setup and it looks like they are pandering to the Call of Duty crowd and using "zombies" as a sales gimmick.
Their list of training courses don't look terribly impressive even though there is one NRA class. I'd rather run a basic carbine / handgun class with somebody like Vickers any day even though I won't get a call sign and a local "fire team" organized.
I can't comment on if they are an effectively trained group or just shooting for laughs. Didn't even know they existed before this post.

Copy on the militias, that thought didn't even cross my mind to be honest, although it makes sense now in hindsight.
Their Facebook page has more of the "for laughs" evidence, a picture posted was to the effect of: "reason #5 for wanting a zombie apocalypse... I get to wear all my gear!" They also have "tabs" you can earn, like gas-mask shooting which they call "irregular warfare"... Which is weird since that's part of standard training in the .mil. Irregular, to me, brings up thoughts of insurgency rather than NBC environments.
They do boast former SOF instructors, although to be honest it seems like you can throw a rock and hit a dozen SOF firearms instructors these days. Gotta pay the bills I guess.
