Krauthammer, others call new Benghazi email release the smoking gun

If you need more evidence there was a coverup to improve Obama's reelection chances...

“We now have the smoking document,” Krauthammer said, “which is the White House saying, ‘We’re pushing the video because we don’t want to blame it on the failure of our policies.’”
Rhodes’ email was sent to several Obama administration officials, including White House press secretary Jay Carney, with the subject line, “RE: PREP Call with Susan: Saturday at 4:00 pm ET.” Rhodes in the email said two of Rice’s objectives would be, “To underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure of policy” and “To reinforce the President and Administration’s strength and steadiness in dealing with difficult challenges.”

    Yeah and?

It's not like they're gonna impeach the bastage...

Until the electorate starts to pay attention and care about government policies nothing will change. We'll have a full on dictator in chief as POTUS before too long...

In my opinion, "We The People" know they lied and sadly to say moved onto other things.

Now for the 1st time Military official: 'We should have tried' to help Americans during Benghazi attack

"As another saying goes -- always move to the sound of the guns."

Benghazi is to Fox News what Malaysian Flight 370 is to CNN. It's the white whale.

Now, before everybody attacks their keyboard to truss me up for a cyber-lynching, let me make my point. Benghazi was a failure before, during, and after by a whole cast of characters. Security warnings were ignored, funding for protection of diplomatic missions was cut, people were knowingly left exposed and vulnerable, there was a complete breakdown of communications which might (and I stress "might") have prevented a rescue operation, and there was an effort by political hacks to minimize the damage after the fact.

None of this is good. And it's all sufficient to give the administration (and Congress) a black eye. But, to my mind, the real "smoking gun" which is going to do some real political damage is definitive evidence that individuals up the chain of communication and command knowingly interfered with transmitting "real time" information immediately prior to and during the attack on the consulate which prevented the deployment of military or contract forces which could have saved lives.

This email says the staffers in the West Wing were scrambling to "spin" a foreign policy disaster to minimize damage to the administration's personnel and policy. Hey, this is politics. It ain't beanbag. It sucks and it's unpleasant, but that's what these people do.

I will now submit to the requisite beat down.

I agree with all of your points Dave. But the sad fact of the matter is, like you said, This is a Fox News story and only a Fox News story (with an occasional honorable mention by ABC). The media should be hounding this administration on it's policy failures but all they offer is silent complicity.

Of course I think they should go after senator Graham and his hypocrisy. Lybia is a complete mess because of this admins policies but let's go invade Syria because reasons...

Since the left controls the messaging....this story will continue to stay in the shadows.

Sad...but this is the country we live in today.

If we had a truly free and objective press...Obama would have been impeached during his first term on this scandal alone.

No "beat down" pending but in all honesty that is just a terribly invalid comparison.

If Ben Rhodes did what it appears he did then he broke the law, not just did a little spinning to lie to all of America. It is a violation for someone in his capacity to distort released information for political purposes. I know it seems anyone in DC can break the law without concern but it goes to show how bad what he did was.

This is no white elephant. Four people died who trusted their country to care about them enough to protect them from harm and it wasn't done. Two died early on and two were left to die six hours later, almost certainly thinking help would finally arrive at any moment. The only white elephant here is the quest to make that irrelevant enough not to have everyone who let them die be held accountable.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there testimony that there were forces within range enough to attempt a rescue operation? Not that it would have been a complete success but it would've been worth trying. So I don't see a "might" anywhere. There seems to have been a definite "stand down" ordered IIRC.

Why does Congress deserve a black eye on this issue? There were know threats in the area that were ignored and previous attempts from the consulate to the White House for protection were apparently denied. Doesn't the brunt of the reprimand lie on the White House and its failure to act?

It was nice to see that idiot Jay Carney get a journalistic "beat down" by Jonathan Carl from ABC though. I won't be surprised if Carl is ostracized by the liberal media though.
