    Florida area Gun clubs

Since having back surgery and living in Missouri the colder climate is hard on me. I have lived in Missouri all my life and after a few weeks of being down in Florida I could tell in my last week there that my pain was not as bad. We're I live I can shoot on my property and have accsess to Mark Twain natural forest to shoot. It's pretty well set in stone that we are moving now and curious of were to find a gun range. For you Florida guys that live between Jupitor and West Palm could you give me some insight on a gun club I could join? Any info on this area and especially hunting areas would be a plus since I don't know much about Florida.

While FL is a pretty pro gun state, property values being what they are means there aren't a lot of gun clubs and big ranges. And the ranges that are here will probably be a tad expensive compared to what you are paying now.

Unless you are very, very wealthy you can forget about owning enough land to shoot on your property. I'm a county south of WPB here in Broward so I don't know what there is in WPB except for Delray Shooting Center, which most people hate.

In today's world one of the best things you can do for your child; Get them in Scouting, stay with them in the program, and encourage them to stay in.

It's a bit farther north (about 1.5-2.0 hours north of Jupiter/WPB) but we have a decent gun club in Palm Bay, Port Malabar Rifle & Pistol Club. It's $150 per year for a full membership, plus a $200 initial fee. There are quite a few range types, from 100-200yd rifle bench/sight in to various shotgun, 'action' ranges, pistol range, 600 yd rifle, and even archery, I believe. There are also some camping spots I think, and there are all kinds of events, training, etc., mainly on the weekends. During the week, it's usually pretty quiet with low traffic, so that is my favorite time to go. IMO, it's very well organized and supported. It might be more of a drive than you wanted, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

OP, I started a thread with the same question in the Region subforum, mine was Broward. I learned that I had to adjust my expectations for shooting facilities out here. You coming from MO I think you will feel the difference. I came from N.TX and it was a bit of change to get use to.

I've been shooting at Delray. It was ok, we went early on a Sunday and got in/out just as the crowd was rolling in.
Been to Alfies Gun range. Again, ok. I went on a weekday and I shot in the reactive target bay by myself. So that was favorable.

I can't speak for WPB but if it's like it is down here, tight indoor ranges are the norm. Depending on the county you may find an outdoor county run range. I can't help on the hunting options. I have not tried looking for that info.

There is almost no hunting in south florida unless you want to go out to the everglades to find something. There is no "out of town", you just cross into the next town. FL is very developed from the coast and well inland.

My father lived to hunt and I grew up in FL. Except for diving and lobster season, if he wanted to do any hunting he left the state. He used to go duck hunting in Yucatan, Mexico. We went home to Iowa once a year for pheasant season. And he'd occasionally go deer hunting while visiting friends up north.

The problem here is the price of land and potential development. Nothing is left undeveloped in the tri county area.
