The list honestly doesn't surprise me.

When I decided I wanted to own firearms (I didn't grow up around them), I started out as inexpensive/cheap as possible. I think I paid like $659 for my first AR-15 and that was huge for me (it was a Doublestar). There were 2 things I looked for and this list seems to speak to what I felt as a first time buyer.

    1) Price
    2) Availability

Most first time buyers (IMO) are going to see a 550 DPMS and a $1100 BCM/Colt/DD etc and say heck no! Oddly enough though, those 5 guns are some of the most common in terms of resale, at least on the largest gun trading/selling website for Oregon. I wonder if that is because people are upgrading or because people never took them out of the box like another guy stated.

Even with 4 years in the Army as an 11B, I probably have learned more about the AR platform here. When I first showed up here I owned a CMMG, my second AR. Any way after reading and learning a little/a lot my present and only AR is a Daniel Defense M4V3. It's on track to being one where I only have 500 rounds through it since last summer. Still, and this sight helped convince me, I'd rather pay more for a quality gun that I'm under utilizing, than pay less for an "okay" gun. There's something comforting knowing that for whatever reason, if in one day I had to quadruple the number of rounds through the Daniel Defense it would be up to the task. Likely, no. Possible, yes.

    Best,

    Dave

The one good thing I find from all of this "Best Selling List". From the people that know and don't mind spending for quality and reliability to the people that just don't understand and buy for lower price. The bottom line is with sales going through the roof for ALL MSR's the past few years. That's telling the Anti-gun people we're not going away or giving up (any) of our weapons and we are standing on our 2nd Ammendment rights. We need to keep those "guns behind every blade of grass". I just prefer spending the extra and having the most reliable.

I got flamed here when a few weeks ago I said I wanted a AR for the range a few times a year
And to have one when the government says no more! Or when tshtf
Did not want to spend a lot of money thought this was a good compromise.
.......$800 shipped read all good reviews but got flamed here by the die hards.
Not saying this is the best AR but for my needs it should work .

•PLUS PACKAGE: Includes individual Magnetic Particle (MP) & High Pressure (HP) testing of the bolt and barrel & upgraded barrel steel (4150 barrel steel chrome lined) •1:7 twist rifling •M4 feed ramps •M-16 bolt carrier •Heavy buffer assembly •One extra 30 rnd. USGI magazine (2 total)

Ya I know %20 more or $200 I could of had a colt .(did not want the front sight post. 1-4 scope )

Sorry stag arms model 3 ( plus pk) Forgot to say this .

2 of your reasons for wanting one were SHTF and government bans.

If either of those cases hold true, wouldn't you want a rifle that at least meets minimum standards?

    I've seen Colt 6920s locally for $899 + 6% tax.

I just picked up a Magpul edition Colt for $899.

For some reason Colts are on sale, on line, Wal-Mart, gun stores....... not many places I've seen them marked down.

We don't recommend companies like Colt, BCM, and Daniel Defense because we're snobs. They are proven companies that make rifles that meet the standard. We only try to help out. Some can come on a little strong, but we all mean well.
