MD dealer backs down from selling smart guns

Great news, why in the hell does he want to open the friggin doors on smart guns! Surprisingly the majority on the largest forum in MD don't agree with me. Why are we stepping on our own dicks? !!

Current poll 0652 on 3 May:

41.11 % SUPPORT Engage selling the smart gun and I DO NOT view it hurts the 2A movement that it is/was/were in a FFL

33.33 % DO NOT support Engage selling the smart gun and I think it HURTS the 2A community that it was/is/were being offered

27.22 % SUPPORT Engage selling the smart gun and I think it HURTS the 2A community that it was/is/were being offered

EDIT: The death threat was WRONG, certainly doesn't advance our cause.

Engage is my "go to" FFL and Andy is a stand up guy. He has been to the state capital for every hearing on the antigun legislation in MD, and spoken at nearly every one.

That being said, "both sides" of "our side" have valid arguments on the smart gun debate. One side saying they open the door for new regulation, the other saying they open the door for new gun owners.

We'll see how this plays out here for Andy and Engage.

I do feel sorry for the guy, but his video and letter probably should not have been done or posted.

Definitely understand his outrage over the death threats though.

This caused a big stir in NJ. We have a law on the books which starts a the clock ticking from the time "personalized handguns" go on sale anywhere in the US to the time regular handguns are no longer allowed to be sold/transferred in state.

I would not be surprised if the death threats came from an NJ resident.

Totally agree, that does not help our cause, but for what it's worth, the shitty laws here prevent me from supporting Andy's decision to sell these things. It's a terrible day when dumb legislation makes me want to see a private business owner fail but it is what it is.

In Jersey anythings' legal, as long as you don't get caught.

And when "responsible gun owners" stoop to this level, it makes perfect sense to have our rights trampled on and these smart guns pushed on us.

As you I have purchased many items from Andy, they are big supporters of 2A. BUT his decision to sell smart guns, will open up a big can of worms with the libs in Annapolis. It has been reported that Bloomberg is pointing out that 70% of MD gun owners support Smart Guns. I have asked the OP of that statement to please provide a link to the article, if he does, I will post it.

Engage Armament / Andy are dirt bags of the highest order. I purchased an Arsenal SBR from them that was advertised as factory new in box.

What was received, was a store display gun that the stock had been folded in and out several times, selector moved up and down, action racked, etc. It was also missing all of its factory accessories such as the cleaning kit, Bulgarian sling, etc. None of the inner liner bags were with the gun. The gun was rolling around in the box loose when I received it and beating the shit out of the cardboard box.

I went around and around with them about how it was missing its factory stuff. I ended up having to call Arsenal customer service to get the liner bags and the rubber cover that goes over the charging handle. I had to order the rest of the accessories from K-Var. They claimed it came that way from K-VAR, which was bullshit since I own several Arsenal products.

Completely incompetent and unprofessional. He also bitched to me on email that he was "too busy" due to the new maryland AWB to bother with this issue. He also wouldn't take a credit card when I first bought the gun. I had to write him a personal check, and then later I found out why as I would have disputed the charge on my credit card.

I still have all the emails saved from this transaction if any site staff or moderator wants to review them.

Doesn't surprise me in the least this person is dabbling in other areas of shitbaggery.
