Our LEO Glock rep said that nothing is set in stone but he is hearing they plan on an early 09 release. I'm thinking around Shot Show...

Bro, it's so easy to just use your middle or index finger to hit the release.

I agree. I find it actually easier to hit the release with my index knuckle, than using a thumb and allows you to keep a stronger grip. You're also better conditioned to pick up any right handed pistol. I used to have a 21SF and I never used the ambi release.

I think if they were to add an ambi feature they would have done better with the slide release as that would make the gun safer for the lefty to operate.

Different things work for different people.

If it was easier to use a index finger then they wouldn't have the market for ambi mag releases.

I have close to 15k rounds through a glock 17 and roughly 500 through a 21sf and I already feel much more confident with the SF.

I will definitely pick up one of these!

Indeed. For abut ten years I've been reversing the mag catch on my Berettas, SIGs, and M&Ps so that I could hit the catch with my trigger finger, which works faster for me.

Given the opportunity, I think everyone benefits from the ability to try both ways on their pistol and choose the method that works best.
