Is it also fair to say that a lighter can would affect that less?
Um No. None of those groups shot over 2 moa. The grid squares are an inch, so just eyeballing, they're around 1.25-1.5 MOA worst group. We jumped right in to the POI test and hadn't even fired the bore smooth yet. If we test accuracy, it'll be another trip. We just wanted to get the POI done quickly.

That's pretty neat. What ammo were you using?

I cant get out to a 100 yard range so you guys are making me feel very confident in these new BCM barrel profiles, and there not even hammer forged which people make a huge deal about.

Now how about some 1000 yard shots.

Meh, that hasn't been proven to enhance accuracy by any means.

I already shot my 14.5 ELW to 1050 yards. We put Pappabear's 2.5-10x Nightforce on mine and got hits on steel with a hot 77 gr SMK load. 16 mils of come up to get the bullets there.

You know that, like you, I enjoy pushing my SBRs to the limit. I've seen what a properly setup, quality 12.5" can do so I believe you can get some good range out of a 14.5" with a proper load.

However, I have to ask. Is there no freaking wind in Arizona?

My range is unfortunately setup perpendicular to a sea breeze. In the morning it blows left to right, in the afternoon it blows right to left and it's always gusting. Without a big, heavy, fast bullet you're dreaming at 1000.

I think the worst wind hold we get is about 3 mils at 1050 yards. Generally it's .5 to 1.5 depending on caliber. We have it pretty easy for the most part.

There are some really windy days however.. but they're the exception.

Not sure how effective the bullet is when it gets there, but it can get there.
