This tool makes locating the gas block directly over the gas port an extremely easy job, especially on this new barrel. Die hard builders say it's not necessary. I found it to be extremely easy and recommend it to anyone who anticipates taking a drill to a barel.

There is a video on the manufacturer's site that shows how a top name barrel was discovered to be incorrectly dimpled and how the owner fixed it with the jig.

That's kinda cool. I've done some free hand dimples, and it's not too difficult... but I do like AR tools.

The cool thing about Noveske is the pre reamed pin slot for the gas block.

BRDE also makes jigs to pin gas blocks. They don't fit all brands, but sometimes the jig can be shaped to work with blocks that are close.

I've not tried to pin a block yet. I've run so many trouble free set screw/dimple blocks, that I've grown to trust them.

The ELW barrels are pre dimpled. There is one dimple right under the gas port. I prefer 2 dimples but it's there.

The have the ELW listed as out of stock on their web site.

Hoping that means that like the KMR, they are almost ready to sell them at the component level.

It'd cool if they could sell a complete upper sans the HG.

Damn, you're right. I guess as long as they sell the barrel, I can have it put together by someone, like ADCO.

I'd like to find out the weight difference between a 14.5" CHF Noveske barrel and a 14.5" BCM BFH ELM barrels. I've favored the Noveske profile over the years because of its profile and the pined GB.

It's a shame BCM doesn't pin the gas blocks. I'm hoping they might in the future or come up with another solution like KAC is doing which I don't know much about.

I remember Grant saying something about keeping an eye out for BCM gas blocks of the future in another thread.
