I would be splitting hairs, but since that is in my nature and where I am at with my shooting, my preference is the BC over the BCM. I did a head to head test of these 2 on various and exact same rifles and myself and the 2 other involved had similar finding and came to the same conclusions. Less felt recoil into the shooter, less muzzle movement, concussive impulse was nearly on par but perhaps a bit more with the BC however the amount of debris, un-burnt powder that came out of the open sided comp hitting to the sides was dramatically increased.

As for comps and skill. It can be crutch-like for some, just like a trigger. However a well versed shooter who is at the top of their game, it becomes somewhat of an arms race and equipment means quite a bit at certain level of competence.

In regards to critique of skills, when a video or other open source / online content is posted, it is always an open door for critique. One persons amazing, might be another persons mediocre, or we might critique efficacy given our own frame of reference. It is about perspective. Trust me, when I say that I have a good deal of former experience with this topic.

    Fast and accurate
Don't think Mark was critical, he was stating he could back way up with that tight group , go faster and STILL STAY ON torso TARGET. That would be a compliment. Very cool video.

Yeah. I wasn't being critical at all. Just saying.... step on the gas even harder.

Actually that is the 5yd stage of Mike Pannone's 1/2 & 1/2 drill. Par time is 2.5 seconds for all shots in the IPSC A-Zone. Some guys find the time is somewhat generous and reduce the size of the target. F2S has posted the same drill using a 3X5 index card.

In the Mike's Advanced Carbine Class he had us shoot the drill as 5 round strings and cut the time in half. This of course forces the shooter to reduce split times over the 10 shot string because the reaction time is such a big part of the overall time. I prefer to shoot the drill starting close and moving back and call it a Double Double. It is harder for me to start a max speed from a cold start and then have to slow down for more precision a the distance expands.

Here is the 5 shot Double Double. Same BCM Gunfighter Mod O on the muzzle.

I am using the Geissle DMR HiSpeed trigger with it's long reset. That is about as fast as I can get the trigger reset regardless of the size of the target. If I warm up I can get runs down around 1.1 seconds on the 5 yd line but I have never broken the 1 second mark for 5 shots with reaction. I have seen Jerry Miculek barely break 1 second with a light weight carrier setup, short trigger, and a few practice runs.

Cool video. To me... I'm happy keeping shots in the 8 and maybe dropping one or two into the seven if it means shaving time.

Embrace the blast, PWS FSC 556. I continue to like this one even better than the BattleComps. Concussion really does not affect the shooter unless you are shooting in a box.
Besides its all relative, any 5.56 has a wimpy blast compared to a SCAR 17s or a bolt action 300 Winmag like I was sighting in last Friday.

I haven't tried the BCM muzzle device yet.

Some days that beast didn't bother me too much... but others??? Yowza... And the people I'd shoot around would moan and groan.

I guess it is good to have a social conscience. I haven't noticed that much difference between the PWS and Battle Comp as far as blast, maybe my brains have finally rattled lose.

I'd put the Battle comp in between the PWS and the BCM Gunfighter. Battlecomp has some concussion, but it's not too bad. The gunfighter is just a little loud. I've not noticed any concussion from it.

I finally get to try my new BCM comp Mod 0 the other day but I only put 40 rounds through it (not enough) the blast and concussion is noticeably less than my old YHM brake/comp and the flash is not even noticeable, but the YHM brake/comp seems to be a little bit more stable. Id have to put more rounds through it to really see the difference.
