Army looking into new jungle uniforms and boots

Hope this doesn't turn into another boondoggle. I would think that we have enough experience in Vietnam and other areas to know what works and what doesn't:

I dunno, the old OD slant pocket jungle fatigues served me well in an infantry unit in Panama for 3 years, as did the OD canvas-sided boots.

ETA: Either those or the old ripstop "jungle cammies" that the Marines wore in the 70's as well as the cadre at JOTC in Panama.

They need to bring back 67 Tiger Stripe.

Maybe they will go with Multicam's Tropic or Krypteck's Mandrake . . . hope they don't repeat the ACU debacle.

    I liked those too.

I do hope the Soldiers get some solid gear that serves them well. Honestly, it would be excellent if the DOD focused on things like solid uniforms and boots, and spent less time looking at some really expensive stuff. Boots, clothes and rucks would be much appreciated.

Multicam is the logical choice but mandrake is sexy.

Wow, just Googled the Multicam Tropic pattern and it looks pretty cool. I could see it blending in with a tropical rainforest quite well.

hmmmm.... high probability of yet another epic failure. Maybe I will have some epic failure cards made up in Kryptek to hand out to everyone involved when they are done high 5-ing one another.

I don't know how I feel about Kryptek. I really dislike it on rifles.

However, Multicam and ATACS FG are a different story.

Who knows how they actually perform against each other?

Agreed, although I'd still like a more comfortable boot that still has the Panama sole.

We really need to be getting less involved in other hemispheres and more so in our own back yard and the neighborhood south.
