    HAHA!
Yeah, I understand the disappointment those folks feel. At the same time, a rifle is a tool, not a piece of art. It's meant to be used. I remember a photo thread where someone posted a photo of their rifles in a mud puddle, saying he was tired of photos of pristine rifles – I like that. The rifles that look best to me are the ones where the Krylon is chipping-off or with patches of raw aluminum shining through the anodizing from hard use.

Except civilians purchase and own their own firearms. Issued weapons are just that.

As long as I don't have to pay for it, I couldn't care less if a work vehicle has a huge dent on it, but you can bet I'll be pissed if someone hits my car with a shopping cart, even if in both situations function is not hindered in any way whatsoever.

That's a good point. I feel the same way about my car, though I think it's a special case.

I can scratch my stuff up all I want and I'm not going to be too upset. If someone else does it that is a different story all together. They are tools and are meant to be used as such.

Scratch Smatch. I take care of my stuff, given to me or paid for by me, where it counts. Cosmetic crap, I ignore.

Exactly, well unless I did something stupid to mess up my stuff... Like forgetting to make sure my sling was fully attached before I ran with it...

Interesting views and points he had. Still, I prefer lightweight rifles vs some of those weapons he listed.

I sure hope that one day I can get my gun scratched so I can feel like a badass when I don't care.

Regardless of the cosmetics it's a good read and good insight as to what he liked and why. It's a shame we can't see more of that.
