My XPS 2 0 does suck as far as turning on. I've gone to turn it on and had to hit the up arrow a few times because I'm not hitting it quite hard enough... So in a stress situation, I could see it being a problem.

That said... if I were working patrol, I'd restart the optic at least once half way through shift.

I like the EoTech MUCH more than I'd expected to. Does anyone know if adjusting the brightness restarts the auto shut off clock? Or do you need to turn it off and back on again to accomplish that?

Yes, hitting any button will reset the countdown.

Also of note, turning it on with the UP button gives you 8 hours, while turning it on with the DOWN button gives you 4 hours prior to auto shutoff.

Yep... I saw the 8/4 hour thing in the directions.... but wasn't sure about the countdown reset. Thanks.

I'll get the E version next so I can run it with fixed BUIS. The plain XPS is a little low... even with folding rear buis, but I'm still pleased with it so far.

What does your buddy IG think of you running a 14.5" with an EOTech? I've never seen him say anything positive about either. Surely he's had to have commented on your setup. Did you do that purposefully to get under his skin?

In my experience, at really close engagements, like when you go through a door way and have to take a 5 yard head shot over the shoulder of an unarmed occupant, its much faster to just use the bottom hash mark on the A65 reticle as your aiming point than it is to guestimate an approximately 2.5" hold over on a moving target while you're moving too. Sometimes even at bad breath distances you need to take precise, aimed shots, pretty damn quickly.

I guess in video games or 3-gun shooting the wrong person isn't that big of a deal. In real life it's a game changer.

    YMMV,

His video game comment was silly. There's a lot of personal preference when it comes to reticules; I don't understand why people keep trying to make objective statements about them. A "disaster"? Really?

While I like the durability and battery life on Aimpoints, the dot doesn't play well with my eyes. A 2 MOA dot turns into a 4-6+ MOA smear unless I'm in bright ambient lighting. The EOTech reticules stay relatively sharp for me so I'm stuck with them for the time being.

In fairness.... it is a video game common use item. And there are a great many goofballs who've come to firearms because of gaming.

I'm the opposite. The Aimpoint does bloom a little with my eyes, but it's negligible, and a long range precision shot is helped by turning the dot way down.

The EO it pretty damned fuzzy in doors, and I was worried I'd wasted my money, BUT... when I got out into the desert, it crisped up dramatically, and the center dot is very capable of fine aiming for me.

FYI, the Aimpoint PRO can be had from SKD at the moment for $374. If your on the fence, this might help you out.

I use the xps2-2 with the g33. I just flip it over to turn the HWS on. No problem
