    Probably another eotech vs aimpoint

Actually, the credit belongs to their marketing team that paid him to say that.

T-1's are great. Red dot always there.
EOTechs have not failed for me. Other than being larger and heavier, only issue that I've had is polarized sunglasses obscuring the reticle.

Both have work fine with an inexpensive 3x magnifier.

Because the half second it takes to push the 'ON' button as your picking up the rifle, makes it totally unready when you need it

If an attacker is so close that you literally don't have even a half of a second to push the ON button with your weak hand simultaneously as you are picking up your rifle, then you are probably screwed already, or going to be point shooting at point blank range.

I think the fact that an Aimpoint can stay on for eternity is great, but people get way too dramatic about claiming a red dot that doesn't stay on 24-7 makes a defensive rifle "unready when you need it". I did a test with two of my rifles to test this very claim. One had an Aimpoint and one had an Eotech. In the test, I timed myself getting out of bed, grabbing my rifle, chambering a round, and getting it in the low ready position. With the rifle that had the Eotech, I simply hit the ON button with my left hand as I was bringing the rifle up into the low ready. Hitting the ON button with my weak hand as I was bringing the gun into the low ready, literally added NO time to the total time. I did it multiple times with the same results.

So maybe it's just me, but the auto shutoff feature seems like a non issue. I think NongShim pretty much summed it up. Pick the reticle that you like best and make your decision.

Seconds count, and I want my weapon to be optimized for its purpose. No one is saying an Eotech wont get the job done, but it is a feature that matters to me (and a lot of people). If one optic has the ability to remain on, I see that as a big plus. I like Eotechs, but that is the reason I chose an Aimpoint. I can shoot either reticle equally well.

Aimpoints are electronic and can and will fail. If you really did want a true fail-safe optic/sight, you'd use iron sights. Everyone is willing to compromise just a little bit. Some people compromise for an Aimpoint, some compromise for an Eotech. Choosing the Aimpoint over the Eotech for the sole reason that you can (sorta) leave it on 24-7, is a bit ridiculous.

RDS are faster than irons. I wasnt questioning aimpoints or eotechs reliability, I made a purchase based on what I need the optic to do. I dont "sorta" leave it on, I do leave it on. Choosing between two proven optics based on features that are important to me, yeah that's ridiculous

No question everybody's needs are different, and as they say, "the mission drives the gear". Before I ever started trying to integrate any rifle I have into my "home defense plan", such as it is, I'd probably start making sure my front door is locked 24-7. Next step would probably be another Golden Retriever. As such, an instantly deployable rifle with a standard-capacity magazine and a constantly-on RDS is just not something I care about. For me, a mere convenience. For others an important component.

Aimpoints can not be left on indefinitely. They run on batteries.

And this is equal to an automatic shutoff
I am tired of debating these points. I dont need validation for my purchase as it serves me well. At this point the OP can decide (in regards to the auto shutoff, at least) weither these things matter to him and make his choice.
