    Stupid Sh%$ sacrifces her dog

This is being sent around as a "feel good" story of brave doggie that gives his life and saves owner. As expected, most miss the essential point.

My take: So stupid sh%$ hikes i an area aggressive animals live with no means of self protection via a fire arm, or even some freakin' pepper spray, and her poor dog has to fight to the death due to her stupidity. I feel for the dog, and think the owner a clueless idiot who should be blaming herself for that loss.

The natural world still exists out there folks, and your dog should not be your first line of defense against two leg or four varmints, unless you're OK with sacrificing your dogs for that reason.

That article made me think of how people in our country simply lay down and don't fight for anything. Had that been me or anyone on here (I hope anyways) the outcome would have been much different. I would have scared the wolf off, and if that didn't work, I would have had to shoot it.
This article reminds me of a long time friend of mine actually. She was fun back in high school, but now she's a über liberal. Doesn't believe in hurting anything (even if it tries to hurt her). Sadly more and more people of my generation are turning into the women of this article. I think I'm gonna go share your article on Facebook, just to test my thoughts on her once she replies... Haha

If I knew my buddy was going to protect me, I'd make damn sure I was prepared to protect my buddy. She is also damn lucky she didn't die with the dog. You don't go "where the wild things live" without a means of dealing with the wild things. Sadly for some selfish assholes, they take their 16 year old buddy to deal with the wild things.

Read the whole story and now I'm really angry. She didn't even keep an eye on the wolf that was tracking them back to the house. A little "situational awareness" could have saved everyone. She talks of the wolf in magnificent terms, really if there was any justice she would have been the one to die.

She suggests most dogs die by the fireplace in agony and hers was spared that fight and go to die like a thunderbolt protecting her and the other dogs. I imagine if given the option she'd like to go out by the fireplace rather than have her throat ripped out by a wolf.

She is every stupid "eco bitch" I've ever hated rolled into one.

Her 'que sera' attitude makes me sick.

She showed her dog no honor or loyalty.

I would have moved heaven and earth to protect my boy. Her lack of prep and SA is pathetic.

RIP big dog. Heaven has some good ones.

    Wolves are beautiful.

But if a wolf is stalking my furry friend and comes within five feet of us... it's gonna have a bad day.

And if a wolf did kill my furry friend, I would have the wolf destroyed. Not because I don't understand how wolves think and move and not because I don't understand that they are part of nature and act as their creator intended them to, but because I understand that in nature, all trespasses must be dealt with swiftly.

I don't understand how you honor a grand old man such as her dog by letting him die needlessly! They defend you with their lives and you do the same for them. That wolf wouldn't have made it another step if he would have gotten within 5 ft of me like that. Being the prey isn't part of my make up.

Guys, holy shit take a deep breath. I'm a dog lover with three myself but did you actually read the story? She stated she was with a total of four dogs and hadn't seen a wolf in 15 years, plus she tried to fight it with a ski pole. Not ideal but according to her she did fight back, this while handling the three other dogs.

I fully believe based upon the circumstances that it was likely starving as stated, plus if the picture shows the owner she was a young woman, not an M4C stalwart.

Edit: And by the way who here either has or is going to create such an honorable internet tribute to their dog when it goes?
